Welcome to the March 2020 Aspiring Newsletter
At Aspiring Computer Services we install and maintain Computers and Networks, typically in Sydney’s Upper North Shore. Due to the Corona Virus (Covid 19) , we have had to make a number of changes to our business to protect us and to protect you.
We are still operating out of the Willarong Road, Mt Colah Workshop. You can drop off and pick up from us (contactless). We may still pickup and drop off to you depending on circumstances. We have closed our Eastern Road, Turramurra workshop for the time being.
We are also doing plenty of fixes and reconfigurations via remote support (Teamviewer)
We will not go on site now unless there are very special circumstances and very special arrangements.
We prefer that you thoroughly clean your equipment before drop off. We will clean/disinfect before and after service. We recommend that you clean again when you get home. We would normally use our keyboard and mouse. Please be safe!
If you have problems with your equipment, we strongly suggest you have these issues attended to sooner rather than later; we’re not sure how much longer we will be able to safely operate the physical service for. A number of our suppliers have now shut down, so it may take us a longer to fix problems requiring parts.
In terms of remote support, we are already seeing the mobile and fixed broadband networks starting to buckle under pressure and as more people work from home and if all the kids come home, we’re sure the Internet performance will be somewhat more overloaded than now, making remote support difficult, conceivably impossible.
Jobs we have done recently:
Lots and lots of Windows 7 to Windows 10 upgrades. Generally we do the upgrade on a machine overnight. If you drop off / pickup then we usually bill 1 hour, sometimes a little more if the Windows 7 was already behaving badly. The actual Windows 10 licence is still free if you have valid Windows 7 licence. (For your safety, Windows 7 must no longer be used.)
Annual Services, mainly PCs, but also Macs. Check everything is running properly and virus free etc. Physical clean. Looking for hardware beginning to fail. Speed up. Check backups, if supplied. Performance and peace of mind! More info here:
Solid State Drive replacements. Any computer (PC Desktop or laptop) more than a couple of years old, really benefits from replacing the main hard disk drive with a Solid State Drive.
Data recovery from old computers’ hard drives, setting up new computers properly, and data transfers etc.
Helping customer’s setup remote support, from say their office to their home or laptop.
